Do you find weekends difficult?

You struggle to find something meaningful to do?  You feel everyone else is busy and doing things.

Open Studio offers two blocks of time you can come and work with us to devise your own project. We give you the materials to work on your project and you come in to show the way you’ve explored the idea. Only £1 per session and refreshments are provided.

Is it for me?

Open Studio is designed to help those who find weekends difficult and isolating.  Up to 4 hours over two, two-hour workshops, Open Studio is designed to bookend the weekend.

It is about what you want to do and not so much as a group activity. For those who go through times when they aren’t sure what they want to do, we will run small group activities.

On Fridays we ask that if you can attend the 2 hours you do!  We will be waiting to see you on Monday as you matter to us!

We ask that you check and contact us via a method that suits you. If you don’t attend or contact us we will ring you on the contact number you provide.  The first few sessions we ask you to think about what art forms you like, dislike or are willing to have a go at. It’s not about being an expert at anything it’s about you having fun learning about something that interests you.

Ideas of what you might want to do:

Painting (watercolours, acrylics, brusho etc), drawing, collage, photography, printmaking (mono-printing, gelli, lino, mixed), pottery, glass mosaic, glass fusing, batik, resin work, needle felting, art history... and we may also be able to get other artists in to work with you.

On the Friday session you will be supported in creating your own activity. This project you can explore over the weekend and bring it in to tell us how you are getting on.

Monday you can drop in for whatever time needed or you may be fine and contact us to say you are ok.

We ask for a £1 donation for each session to show your commitment to the sessions.

This project is funded by the Lottery Community Fund.

NB: We are not a crisis team or therapists, we simply provide art activities to help your wellbeing.
